India has been a house to a host
of mega events in the last few years. It was not until now that
Event Management field was taken too seriously in our country.
We in India have seen some of the greatest stage acts and television
shows and are now proudly rubbing shoulders with the rest of
the world in the events industry. The growth of multi-national
companies has brought forth a spurt of meetings, seminars, exhibitions,
conferences, product launches and all these have become huge
events in themselves. The celebrity shows, beauty pageants,
award ceremonies, international artist's shows, shows for a
cause, road shows, have really become larger than life here.
Personal functions like marriages and birthday parties have
also become important social matters, and have started to be
handed over to event management companies for more exclusivity.
Research showed that there was no formalized education to teach
event management and this vast field was left very unprofessional
so far. Event management companies found it very difficult to
train their personnel and had to waste a lot of time and energy,
and to the end they were losing a perfectly balanced person
to a competitor for better bait. Companies found their executives
not up to the mark to handle events professionally and growing
need was felt to have formalized teaching in event management.
If it could be done in Advertising and Marketing, in communications
and Public Relations, the question was why not in Event Management?
But it was not so easy because event management encompasses
all, it includes organizational skills, technical knowledge,
P.R., marketing, advertising, catering, logistics, decor, glamour
identity, human relations, study of law and licenses, risk managements,
budgeting, study of other medias, and the list just does not
end here.
A group of educationists with the belief that creation and dissemination
of knowledge is essential for any effective management conducted
a detailed, analytical research in the field and established
NIEM & NAEMD in the year April 2000.Until then, there was
no institute in the country offering a formal and structured
course in Event Management.
National Academy of Event Management & Development
(NAEMD) is India's premiere Event Management Institute
catering to the huge multidimensional Event Management Industry.
It was formed with the objective to create future leaders
and professionals in the global event management field by
offering superior learning opportunities, engaging in research
and scholarly activities along with a perfect blend of practical
training on some of the most glittering sets of the world's
biggest events.
India is only the seventh country in the world to provide
professional training in Event Management. NIEM is Asia's
first Institute recognized by LIMCA BOOK OF RECORDS.
NAEMD started the course with an aim to:
:
 |
Produce trained and qualified work force
for the event and entertainment industry. |
 |
Create a new class of Event Manager, Event
Co-coordinators and Consultants. |
 |
To bring India on a still higher footing
in the Event World. |
 |
To constructively utilize the talents of
our youngsters towards a tremendously fast growing industry
|
At NAEMD we developed a multi-pronged way of training. Along
with classroom teaching a host of class speakers came as guest
lecturers and gave the students their expertise and knowledge.
This was assisted with a huge unparallel training program
in which the students were exposed to genuine on-field practical
training at famous shows like Femina Miss India, Filmfare
Awards, Gladrags, Grasim Mr. India, Standard Chartered Mumbai
Marathon, Star Screen Awards, Zee Awards, Product Launches,
Road shows, Meets, International Conferences, etc.
Our faculty comprises of professionals, teachers from management
schools and people from the events and entertainment industry.
Apart from these we have a lot of guest lecturers who share
their experience of the industry with us. |
